International Women's Day 2017

Every year International Women’s Day is celebrated on the 8th of March. It’s a day set aside to celebrate women, their achievements, and to recognize the very real struggles that persist for women across the globe. It’s a day to bring awareness to gender disparity. Needless to say, this is a daily endeavor and the march to equality cannot be restricted to a single day, it is however needed to build awareness on the subject.

This year’s theme #BeBoldForChange couldn’t be more apt given the current world events, with the world’s most powerful democracy voting in a president who has openly expressed misogynistic views repeatedly, to back home in India with the new year’s eve mass molestation in a city known for its cosmopolitan environment.

Being Bold for Change is the need of the hour.

What can we do:

  • Call out gender biases when you see it (Read more about biases and how to recognise it here)

  • Learn to recognise your own biases

  • Push for that dream job/promotion, NOW is the time, and know that you ARE ready.

  • Ask for help/support from wherever possible

  • Push to break out of societal defined norms on gender associations with jobs/duties

In other words, what would you do if you were not afraid? Once you have your answer Do It.

Leaving you with some inspiration to #BeBoldForChange!
